Book Review Dangerous by Caleb Bislow

Dangerous by Caleb Bislow

I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for a review by Bethany House Publishing.

Caleb Bislow decided that nowhere on earth should be without the ability to hear of Gods love.  He took his families entire savings to make his first trip to Africa (with family support) to share Gods love.  He has since been to Asia and many other places.  This book is filled with his adventures and journeys.

This book was not my favorite because I am truly more of a fiction reader or historical biography. The writing seemed somewhat choppy and jumped around.  I love what Caleb is doing and support it 100%, I just did not like the book.  This is my honest opinion.

38 Weeks and COUNTING!!!!

38 Weeks pregnant

38 weeks pregnant

Yow! If you feel a sort of lightening bolt running up and down your legs (and in your crotch), don’t freak out. At 38 weeks, baby’s probably sitting pretty low in your pelvis, which means he’s bumping into all kinds of nerves down there — including some pretty sensitive ones you might not know you had. Be on the lookout for signs of labor, including contractions that come on stronger, at more regular intervals, and the “bloody show.” It could happen any day now — or it might not be for a few weeks. Until then, try to relax.

Your baby’s the size of a pumpkin!

Baby is about 18.9 to 20.9 inches long and weighs about 6.2 to 9.2 pounds. His head is now about the same circumference as his abdomen.

your baby at 38 weeks

  • He may have about an inch or so of hair already.
  • He’s slowly shedding that white goo on his skin (called vernix caseosa) but you might see some of it at birth.

At our latest visit:

  • FHR- 140’s- Still good-  This week we had a hard time finding it as you were moving all around like crazy!

Carpal Tunnel  -BAD-  still wearing a brace and compression gloves  for night  and it still takes several hours in the morning to get feeling back in both hands!  Now the tingling and aching continues through the day!

Feeling a lot more pressure-  PEE PEE PEE PEE PEE

My weight is still at a normal target-  This week I stayed the same no weight gain…

Book Review- Unforeseeable by Nancy Mehl

I was asked by Bethany House to review this book.  This is my honest opinion.

 Unforeseeable by Nancy Mehl

Unforeseeable by Nancy Mehl

I enjoyed this book and it was very interesting and had a very unique twist to it.

Callie Hoffman has a good life in Kingdom, Kansas. She’s engaged to Levi Housler, the new pastor of Kingdom Mennonite Church, and she spends her days working with her friend and soon-to-be sister-in-law, at the town cafe.

When a body is discovered on the road outside Kingdom and the deceased turns out to be the victim of a serial killer. Unsettled at the prospect of a killer in Kingdom, Callie is desperate to find answers for herself, especially when her own fiance seems to know more about the murder than he’s telling.

As the town battles an entirely unforeseen danger and Callie’s very life is threatened, the stakes are as high as they’ve ever been and the people of Kingdom must learn anew to put their trust in God alone.

I would recommend this book.

Canning- Apple Pie Filling

I was inspired when a friend of mine asked me if I had ever made apple pie filling…Nope not me!  But when my mom brought me a box of apples-  I knew I had to try…It went well and my kitchen smelled heavenly!!!

I found a very simple recipe on Allrecipes and it turned out great!!  Enjoy!!

INGREDIENTS:

4 1/2 cups white sugar1 cup cornstarch2 teaspoons ground cinnamon1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg2 teaspoons salt 10 cups water3 tablespoons lemon juice2 drops yellow food coloring6 pounds apples

DIRECTIONS:

1. in a large pan, mix sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add salt and water and mix well. Bring to a boil and cook until thick and bubbly. Remove from heat and add lemon juice and food coloring.
2. Sterilize canning jars, lids and rings by boiling them in a large pot of water.
3. Peel, core, and slice apples. Pack the sliced apples into hot canning jars, leaving a 1/2 inch headspace.
4. Fill jars with hot syrup, and gently remove air bubbles with a knife.
5. Put lids on and process in a water bath canner for 20 minutes.

37 Weeks…

Getting  excited. At 37 weeks, baby has reached full term. That means he’s developed his most crucial functions. Of course, he’ll get even healthier and stronger over the next few weeks.

week 37

week 37

Baby’s the size of a winter melon!

Yay! Baby has reached full term. He likely measures around 18.9 to 20.9 inches and weighs about 6.2 to 9.2 pounds. He’s gaining about 1/2 ounce each day.

your baby at 37 weeks

  • He’s practicing some skills: inhaling, exhaling, sucking, gripping and blinking.
  • He’s getting his first sticky poop (called meconium) ready for his first diaper.

At our latest visit:

  • FHR- 140’s- I am much happier with this number than last week…
  • GBS Test done- positive-  Meaning I will have to be on antibiotics as soon as water breaks or contractions are strong
  • Dilated 1 cm and Effaced 50%…Progress

How I feel:

SWOLLEN!!!  Wow I have no ankle bones…and my rings officially don’t fit.  I am happy that I can wear flip flops and that I have been able to wear my rings this long.  My mom retained a lot of water when she was pregnant and it looks like I am going to finish up the same way.

I am still using the Palmers Cocoa Butter Stretch mark cream…the only thing I can tolerate.

Carpal Tunnel  -BAD-  still wearing a brace and compression gloves  for night  and it still takes several hours in the morning to get feeling back in both hands!  Now the tingling and aching continues through the day!

Feeling a lot more pressure- the doctor said after my pelvic exam that she felt his head so he is getting ready.

My weight is still at a normal target-  I always ask the doctor first thing.  At this appt up 2 more pounds… WOW  this is getting hard for me to ignore but I know I need to be healthy for baby.

Went to Dermatologist and was given the all clear- he wants to see me in mid October to see if the 2 spots on my face are gone or still there-  he thinks they may be clogged oil glands?  Anyways he can fix them.  I love my dermatologist!

  5. Giving my poor hubby instructions for L&D and the day after we are home-  I just want to bond with the 3 of us…not all the loving friends and family.  I hope everyone understands but that first day home is important to me.  After that bring it on-  he more the merrier!!
